Contacts Volunteers and Friends

We have an active Friends of the Museum group, who gain an invitation to the new season’s preview event, and a regular newsletter for a small annual subscription. Friends are the key to Museum support and effectively govern the Museum as they vote to elect the committee and Trustees at the annual general meeting, usually held in January. We are always keen to hear of new ways in which we can help visitors. To become a friend, see the application form below.

Visitor Help and Advice

We are always pleased to hear from people researching the geographic area or our specialist subjects. If you think we may be of help to you, please use the link below.

We are also pleased to hear from groups or schools who would like specialist tours.

Individuals seeking help with family history are very welcome but please give us as much detail as you can before your visit so we can delve through the archives. We are volunteers so may need time to get the best results. We do appreciate that families move around and names may change!

Donation of artefacts. If you have items of interest from our area or related to individuals who lived within our area, and you are interested in discussing donation to the Museum, please contact us. Sadly, we may not have space for everything we are offered but we are very keen to provide the best archive possible of the lives of the area so do still contact us and we shall see what can be done. Can you help us raise funds for the museum for nothing with no effort?

The Museum relies completely on income from admissions, events and donations and we apply for grants for specific projects, so any extra funds always help to keep the Museum open.

To help us raise funds you can purchase goods over the internet from retailers participating in a rebate scheme (and there are thousands including many household names). For every purchase made the retailer pays a percentage of the cost, typically 2.5%, into the account of chosen good causes. Beaminster Museum is registered as a good cause.

If you wish to help the museum in this way go to the website www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/beaminstermuseum and register your email address and a password. Select the retailer you wish to buy your goods from, listed on the website page, and purchase your goods in the normal way; you will not be charged anything extra when using this method.

The due percentage will be immediately credited to the museum’s account but we won’t get a penny if you make your purchase directly from the retailer’s website. The account is paid to the museum quarterly provided it has reached £15. This is a completely safe way to help the museum raise much needed funds.

Thank you very much to those who are already helping us in this way.

You can make a small donation here, Financial Donations but for anything over £30 we would like to claim gift aid with the form below, or contact us at info@beaminstermuseum.co.uk
