Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service

Murray Rose holding the QAVS trophy

2 September 2019 was the day some 90 museum volunteers met to celebrate receiving the Queens Award for Voluntary Service. The Lord Lieutenant for Dorset, Sir Angus Campbell, read his commendation letter to the Queen and then presented the award document and the glass trophy to the Museum Chairman, Murray Rose.

Because of the numbers attending, the ceremony was held not in the Museum, but in the Masonic Lodge across the road and the Beaminster WI provided and served a superb tea.
